After a busy international weekend for Kenya Rugby, more good news continue trickling in as the Kenya Lionesses climb in World Rugby rankings.

After their triumphant campaign in Uganda, the Kenya Lionesses will be headed to the Rugby World Cup qualifiers on a high, gaining 1.14 points from the win over Lady Cranes. This places them on Position 28, their best ever ranking.

Their opponents Uganda drop to position 44. Zambia beat Zimbabwe 19-18 over the weekend to see them enter the rankings for the first time and as a result, are ranked 35th with 41.37 points. Zimbabwe are ranked position 41.

South Africa remains the best ranked African team at position 11 with 67.98 points.

New Zealand’s status as the world’s number one side was under threat with England set to take over at the top if they won Sunday’s title decider in San Diego. However, a hat-trick from Renee Wickliffe helped the Black Ferns to a 28-13 win against the previously unbeaten Red Roses.
